Broken Axe Downhill

>> Sunday, September 5, 2010

So most people view Bushlove as an XC, seat up, lycra wearing jeiboi club. Whilst this is true, some of us are super hardcore, Gnarcore even.

Thats not me, tho I am an old skool DH'er from way back. And seeing as I'm currently residing in Nelson for some time, I broke out the Sunday for some fun and hit up one of the Nelson club DH races.

A day of runs for $30 odd bucks and 2 timed runs at the end of it.........bargain. The track was rocky and with a few roots to slip you up when you least expect it. The speed was quite high as well, and something that took me quite some time to get used to, in fact I never really got full handle on it. But I'm still fresh back onto the DH bike, so I'm willing to be slower than I should be for the moment.

In the end I got 3rd in the semi old bastards category, half a second off second, but 11 seconds back on super local Derek Winwood.

I managed to get a helmet cam run of my 2nd race run. Apologies for the slowness and shit riding.

Do a huck au! I hope you rocked the full lycra bodysuit to scare the downhillers.

Nice madcore Slacky... I think you even got a little airtime. looked like you were smokin near the end.

Good to see Bushlove DH Rep puffing on the slight uphill bits.

Still sad to not have you in Wellies but looking forward to your return trips.

While I love seeing your riding style, a video with you in it would have been super

Nice one Ricky! Good to "see" you, or at least, see what you saw. Hope the work's going well. Simon and I have been digging on Mt Vic once or twice a week. Look forward to showing it to you some time! Take care!

Downhill helmet video usually looks lame, but that was actually pretty cool. Perhaps its cos you were going slow enough for us to see all the roots, rocks, reggae.
